The Autumn Epic event

The event at chasewater is not running in 2009.

We have boooked the Mount Pleasant pub (opposite Wombourne swimming baths) for the AGM on Sunday 25th Jan.

The presentation is a fun and friendly evening, a chance to socialise , and of course to congratulate our fantastic juniors on their achievements in 2008.

After a heartbraking result at the World Long Course Duathlon – Geel, Belgium where Paul had led the 13 mile run with Frenchman Lippi Thierry, went on to pull out a huge lead on the bike when disaster struck.

Black Country Triathletes own James Ratcliffe made it 3 wins in 3 years at our own Olympic Distance event held at Chasewater on 17/08/2008.

A few years back BCT were accused of being a club of Ironman Snobbery, over the past few years with the help of our membership we've atttempted to make ourselves a little more rounded and wholesome in triathlon terms.

The club results from the Malvern Triathlon are as follows.

After finishing in 4th place at the National under 20 Duathlon Championships 2 weeks ago and breaking the Wombourne Sprint course record last weekend James Ratcliffe noched up his 3rd win of the season by winning the Hereford Duathlon.

It’s a tough course with steep climbs and some very challenging decents!  It starts with a 12K run around Carsington Water, 40K bike and  4K run out across the damn and back to finish.

Leading after the first 5k run James pulled away further with a  very quick T1 A good effort on the bike leg gained him over a 2 min lead on the chasing athletes Another fast T2 and he was off on the last short 2.

It’s the time of the year again guys CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE; we were promoted last season so this year we will be competing in Division 3.

A good day was had by all ,the A team was just 61 seconds off a medal,and just 33 seconds seperated the B and C teams,special thanks goes to Preston and Chris Mcmahon(tewkesbury)who stepped in at the last minute .

On Saturday 5th August the National Triathlon Team Relays will take place at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham.

Over the weekend the 70.

The race was in almost ideal conditions on the relatively flat Stafford Common, which was a lot dryer than the last 2 years.

Just a reminder for you not to forget xc on the 7th Jan at Walsall, quite a few people have extended holidays at this time of year and I’d hate anyone to miss it because they forgot!.

A Message from our Cross Country Team Captain.

Whilst away on a walking holiday in Spain Steve Hugh, father of junior members Sam and Emma died suddenly of a heart attack Our thoughts are with the family at this expecially difficult time.

Its not very often I smile at a set of results, but these are a wonderous vision.

No doubt Dilys will be sourcing some photography for us and provide a full update but it would appear that Paul Rogers finished 69th in Athens.

Dan Earthquake and Dean Sargeant will be attempting to Swim across the Severn estuary on Wednesday 9th November 2005 at Approx.

If that’s not an attention grabber then I don’t know what is? The first round of the cross county season started with usual mud bath round Senelesse Park and what a race it was.

Rain, wind and anything else the Midlands could throw at it made the return of the Hagley Duathlon a day to remember.

The annual pilgramige of the those over 25 to Sheffield to swim contained Kath Tunnicliffe, Linsay Gowland and Stuart Steele.

First of all a set of apologies for the delay in getting this report out as I've been a little slack in the old site updating front.

BCT have 4 entrants confirmed for IM Austria (Klagenfurt) in July 06, with entries filling up this is a reminder for those considering doing an Ironman event next year, to make their minds up soon.

Actual Details to follow (nothing on the website yet) but I can confirm that a few members have qualified for the national Biathlon CHamps on the 26th and 27th November.

BCT having won this league for the last 4 years are currently in second place with 4 events left to count.

Thought I had better write a bit about Ironman UK, Sherborne for the website, as Black Country had 6 start the race and 4 finish.

Sunday 11th September as well as the date of the club’s sprint competition also saw six members travel to Longleat in Wiltshire, to take part in the inaugural UK Ironman 70.

Race Packs for the Sprint can be found online now, Start lists will be available over the weekend but in the mean time feel free to peruse the information in the race packs.

Results from the Action HEart 5km at Himley Hall, Apologies for anyone i've missed.

Stuart arrived after a 5:30 start for the briefing at 9:30 while a very confident triathlon swimmer; this was a very different competition.

BCT retained their club team winning status at this prestigious event on Sunday June 5^th.

Martin Dodd and his race support crew arrived on the big island of Lanzarote on the Monday before the race, meeting up with 3 other Birmingham hopefuls all of whom were armed response police officers, so no upsetting them.

Chris Nicoll was 3rd (on his birthday) in the Buxton half marathon on the 29 May showing a return to some good form.

Club Memberships have now expired.

On a rather chilly February morning Paul Rogers and his team of merry men come flying through Dudley on their way for the 5 Mile Action Heart.

To all the team for this seasons efforts, but especially to the 6 hardy souls that represented the club on Saturday as the conditions were pretty awful and the whole thing hurt.

Whilst Black County Triathletes were hammering around a very technical Cross Country course (more on that shortly) Stuart Steele was at the Worcester County Long Distance Championships.

For those of you who know and train with Kath on Saturdays and Wednesdays you may be interested to know that she did quite well over the weekend.

BCT were in fine form today when they managed to mustertwenty out of the 100 entrants for the annual Splash and Dash Event.

After a division 4 Second place in the Birmingham Cross country League in October Chris Nicoll returns to the Cross country withconvincing win.

Surayer Oliver has completed the Decaman (Hawaii) and we can only confirm that she was smiling over the finish line.

On a wonderously damp (no rain thank god!) Saturday afternoon, a mixed assortment of 15 BCT members braved the hillside at Senneleys park, Birmingham.

The BCT's youth duo scooped up Gold & Silver in the individual category at the IRC in Liverpool last Saturday.

On what can only be described as stunning day BCT yet again turned out in force.

James Ratcliffe finished in the Bronze position at Eton in the Youth National Super Sprint Championships on Sunday (27th June).

Medium turn out for this event nicely undulating course with a coupe of feed stations.
